Order #200,000 placed at today

Order #200,000 placed at today

We are very happy to be able to announce customer #200,000 today in our online shopping cart system / database. Well, it’s not actually customer #200,000 but rather order #, because we have a lot of repeat customers and there won’t be 200,000 different customers, but a total of 200,000 orders placed through our online shopping cart system since the current database went online in April 2005 (about 10 1/2 years ago) at the time of writing. (In fact, as a stock music / royalty-free music site was started already 5 years before that, back in the spring of 2000, but it didn’t have a real online order database until April 2005).

The screenshot shows the top of the order log, with the most recent orders on the top of the list, as it looked this morning. We’ve blurred the names and email addresses in the interest of privacy, but I can say that order #200,000 was placed by a gentleman from Finland, and he bought the 60-secs version of the track We Are Young composed by Evgeny Emelyanov.

We here at want to thank you all for your amazing support and all the business you’ve done on our site through the years, allowing us to continue to bring you great music composed exclusively for us by amazingly talented composers from all over the world. Bring on the next 15 years! Customer Satisfaction Guarantee pledge Customer Satisfaction Guarantee pledge

We realize it’s a little unusual, but at we are now introducing a customer satisfaction guarantee. Success or your money back, even on downloadable, non-returnable products.
Ever since we started our business back in 2000, we – like other sites that sell downloadable products – have operated with a policy of “after the product has been downloaded, you can’t go back on your purchase”. It is (or at least, it was) the norm for downloadable products. Just try to get a refund / exchange from iTunes after you’ve downloaded an album from them!
However, we have come to feel that this approach is a little “last decade”, so we are changing our stance on this. We want our customers to be entirely happy, or we will refund their money.
If you have a problem or issue with sound effects or music tracks that you have licensed from us, please contact us about this within 30 days after your purchase. We will first try to help you with your problem. Whether it’s a rights related problem, a technical problem or whatever else, we will do our best to get you sorted out.
If we are unable to fix your problem, we ask you to send us a written statement (by email) saying that you have deleted the sound/music from your computer(s) and that you weren’t able to use it, and a short explanation of the reason. We will then refund your money without quibble.

New phone number for USA/Canada callers

New phone number for USA/Canada callers

The new USA/Canada phone number for 347-918-3574.

We had to get rid of our old Toll-free number because we kept getting more and more “silent calls”. Not calls from people trying to sell us stuff, or pre-recorded political messages. No sir. Just silence. Dead air. We asked around a bit what all these silent calls were about, and it turns out that there are people who are paid “per second spent on the phone with potential customers”, who machine call hundreds of toll-free numbers and then just leave the line hanging.. because apparently this goes down as “time spent on the phone” and that’s what they get paid for??

When the number of silent calls outnumbered actual human calls by about 5 to 1, we had to call it a day and scrap our old toll-free number. We now have a normal (New York) phone number: 347-918-3574 and will be happy to speak with customers and friends on that number. Thanks for listening!

Buying music just for personal listening

Buying music just for personal listening

We occasionally get emails from people browsing our site and wishing to buy our music just for personal listening. People who are used to buying music tracks for a couple of dollars at iTunes, Amazon etc. are finding it hard to paying our lowest license fee around $30 just for buying a music track for listening to it. We can understand that.

In answer to this, we usually tell people: is a Music Licensing business. We are in the business of licensing music for commercial and in-public use. When you buy our music, you get rights with it, allowing you to use the music in things like online videos, TV and radio broadcasting, games, apps and more. Quite simply, we are not in the business of selling music to people just for listening to it.

Having said that, if you really want to buy some of our music just for personal listening, we can set it up for you manually. We charge $1.65 per individual music track and $15 per CD-collection. Please contact us and let us know what you would like. We’ll get back to you by email, ask you to send us payment by Paypal, and then have the file(s) sent to you. We will ask you to confirm in writing that you will be using the music only for personal listening.

Non-watermarked preview files

Non-watermarked preview files

Dear friends and customers,

I would like to draw your attention to some new functionality we have on our website, which enables selected customers to get access to preview files without the voiceover watermark (“Preview…”, “Shockwave-Sound dot com…”) before actually buying the track.

For obvious reasons, we are a little bit withholding with access to this functionality because it enables people to download full quality MP3 files, without any voiceover watermark protection, without licensing the music first. For this reason, we reserve access to this functionality to:

  • Repeat customers.
  • Large and high profile companies.
  • Other people that we know personally and/or that we find a particular reason to show this level of trust.

The feature works like this: We set you up with a login and password to a special area of our site. We also attach this login-ID with your IP-address, so the login will only work from the actual IP-address where you are attached to the internet. (I.e. it doesn’t work if somebody in a different part of the world tries to log in with your details).

Once the account is set up, you use our regular website to browse for music and you “tag” any track that you are interested in.

You then go to the hidden area and log in with a user name and password. Once inside, you can see download links to non-watermarked MP3 files of all your “tagged” tracks.

Should you / your company be interested in setting up an account for this, please contact us via our “Contact” page.
