John Philip Sousa was born in 1854 in Washington DC, to Portugese and German parents. Throughout his composing carreer, he became known as "The March King" as he composed the official march for the U.S. Marine Corps (the Semper Fidelis, which holds that position today -- in addition to being probably the most played march in history). He also composed several operattas.List all tracks by this composer |
